Social Affairs and Habitat Commission (3rd commission)

The commission oversees the wellbeing of the department’s inhabitants through social and health policies. The needs of families are at the heart of its actions, either in times of need or in their day-to-day requirements. Direct and indirect help is given through: family planning clinics, crèches, foster care, care homes…

The elderly and the disabled are also a preoccupation for the commission, which manages services to dependant persons, funding to retirement homes, home-help services, the Maison du handicap (a one-stop advice centre for the disabled).

It is also responsible for certain cancer prevention schemes (breast and bowel cancers) and back-to work schemes and RSA (jobseeker benefit). Finally, the 3rd commission is in charge of all projects concerning habitat.
